Its structure and infrastructure is therefore fairly old, until now. A new traditionally built specialist block with hollowcore concrete beams was created for the school as commissioned by the owners Mr & Mrs Pipe. Two main challenges arose during the build. The first was a requirement for a substantial retaining wall to hold back the rising ground behind the building complete with disabled access to the first floor via a ramp and bridge structure. The second was Gas - we had to get a new supply from the roadside across the property and into the new build, a major feat given the drop in pressure over the distance involved. When completed the school had four new state of the art classrooms and prep rooms, freeing valuable space from within the existing old school walls for further development.   Hawley Place School A new science & Arts block The bank to be retained after cropping The new science block Project details       Hawley Place School 07860 148251 01252 794647 A cross section for planning including the rear elevated access
